Wondering why diy vitamin c serum?
Skincare is so important and it’s no wonder there would be so many skincare products on the market to choose from. And you know the result! People get so confused with all of the choices on the market and often end up choosing a skincare product that isn’t effective. In addition, vitamin C skin care products have a short shelf life. They quickly degrade and become ineffective once dissolved in liquids.
You can make vitamin C serum at home more cheaply than buying it in a store, and you can make it in small batches so that it is always fresh and effective. It’s simple, you just need to know the right DIY method and the use of the right ingredients.
DIY Vitamin C Serum Ingredients:

- 2 Vitamin C tablets available over the counter
- 2 tsp rose water
- 1 tsp glycerine
- 1 Vitamin E capsule
- A clean empty glass bottle to store the serum
Crush the Vitamin C tablet and place the Vitamin C powder in the glass bottle. Then, add the rose water and shake the mixture well. Once the powder gets dissolved, add the Vitamin E capsule to the bottle while squeezing out all the liquid. You may also slit the capsule and drop it inside. Shake the mixture well and store the bottle in a cool dark place. The serum will be ready to use within two weeks and make a fresh batch for the next time.
Steps for making the basic homemade vitamin C serum for the skincare.
Step #1
Collect the following ingredients from a health food store or grocery store to make a basic vitamin C serum.
- 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin C powder
- 1 tablespoon of hot (not boiling) distilled water
- a tablespoon and a 1/2 teaspoon
- a small glass bowl
- a plastic whisk
- a small funnel
- a brown or cobalt (dark blue) glass container
To make a basic vitamin C serum, you will need to gather these ingredients and materials.
Step #2:
Add the vitamin C powder to the hot water and pour one tablespoon of hot water into your bowl. Mix ½ teaspoon of vitamin C powder with the hot water. Stir the ingredients until they are well combined. Vitamin C powder is usually meant for oral use and that may clog your pores or cause a rash. So, it’s recommended to test the powder on a patch of skin to see if it causes any irritation.
Step #3:
Pour the serum into the funnel after keeping the funnel spout in the bottle to avoid spilling any of the serum. Then, seal the bottle and store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. To ensure the vita C serum is fresh and potent, keep it in the cold, dark environment of your refrigerator.
Make a fresh batch of vitamin C serum every two weeks or as needed by following the above DIY method.
Warning:
A slight stinging sensation may happen for a few minutes after application. In any case of a prolonged stinging sensation for a few minutes, wash the cream off. Reduce the frequency of application to once every other day if the vitamin C serum causes dryness or mild irritation OR discontinue altogether if it happens every time and see a doctor if you experience long-time irritation.
