It’s not a mystery that hair products contain silicone, paraben, and sulfate, which can be lethal to your luscious locks. You may not find natural products in a beauty store that promise you healthy ingredients and natural oils. Many women are shifting to homemade shampoo and conditioner because these work better than store-bought items. Why? It is because these are made from natural ingredients and are sulfate, silicone, and paraben-free.

Apparently, I wasn’t too much into DIY, but after reading a few reviews and seeing a few recipes, coconut milk shampoo seemed to be a good catch! After a lot of procrastination, I decided to go completely natural and begin with the DIY process. Before diving into the making process, let me tell you all the benefits and nourishments you’re going to receive through coconut.

Coconut and its benefits

When people talk about hair, they mainly mention the thickness and the type of strands. But hair type is more than the characteristics of your hair. Now, to be fair, coconut oil may not work with all kinds of hair. The sole purpose of using coconut oil is to add protein to your hair, giving it a shine. Now, like me, people with a medium luster in their curls can prevent their tresses from breaking and suffering from dandruff.

Coconut also works as a miracle with the damaged or color-treated hair. But people with severely damaged and dry hair must stick to using cocoa butter, argan, or almond oil. When applied to your curls, coconut deeply moisturizes them and leads to protein buildup. With so many benefits, coconut milk shampoo definitely became my next favorite thing!

Beneficial ingredients in coconut milk shampoo

Coconut milk shampoo benefits are tremendous because of the ingredients you put into it. Besides enjoying the goodness of coconut, you get to revel in the rewards of vitamins, calcium, and iron, to name a few. Coconut milk has vitamins B3, B1, B6, B5, and C- and that’s a lot!

Its moisturizing property nourishes the hair from the scalp to the ends. Plus, it saves your scalp from irritation, dryness, and even dandruff. Not to forget, the component is a natural conditioner, making your tresses softer, thicker, and voluminous. Adding aloe vera to it makes the shampoo stronger because aloe vera protects damaged cuticles, makes hair appear less dull, and enhances hair growth.

By making this homemade recipe, I’ve noticed fewer split ends and my curls feel great, to be honest! Let’s dive straight into the recipe now.

How to make the shampoo?

To enjoy coconut milk shampoo benefits, you need a can of coconut milk, pure aloe vera gel, some essential oils, Vitamin E, and baby shampoo.

If you’re wondering how to make coconut milk in your house, it’s effortless. Please take out the coconut flakes from the shell and blend them with a cup of hot water. Strain the milk through a sieve and tada! There’s your coconut milk (homemade). You may have to blend it a few times to get the required amount.

In the next step, pour a cup of coconut milk and 1/3 cup of baby shampoo. Add aloe vera gel, Vitamin E, and essential oils as per your choice to the bowl. Generally, I go for lavender or lime as these really smell fresh and soothing. Mix all the ingredients, and there you go- your shampoo is ready!

How to store it?

Coconut milk contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that increase its shelf life naturally. As you don’t blend any preservatives, you don’t have to worry about it getting rotten. On top of that, adding essential oils increases its longevity and combat bacteria and fungus growth.

Store in the refrigerator, and I can guarantee that you can use a batch for a month. Now when you know what can make your hair shinier and brighter, give a shot at this recipe. Say goodbye to hair damage and flaunt your beautiful curls.
